[When Jessica returns to the Clockhouse, all traces of Sayo have been erased.

Except for the cassette placed on her pillow. The tape that Jessica lent to Kanon.

[ Jessica considers destroying it and discarding the remains. But all that she can do is hold that fragile memento to her chest, curl up onto the bed, and cry for everything she's lost. ]

[Sayo's voice as the recorded message plays is harsh and scratchy, both from all the alcohol she'd imbibed the night before and all the crying.]

Fuck. This is... [A sigh.]

I'd just like to say I'm sorry for my... meltdown on that woolgathering post.

You shouldn't have had to see my drunk texting after a day like... that. And I definitely shouldn't have posted it where everyone could see or have gotten myself blind drunk as the first thing I did after I got home. So I'm, um, sorry.

...I hope you're-

[A pause in the audio while she shakes her head.]

That's it.

[It clicks off.]

[ She then deletes Sayo's message, and sets her Omni to ignore further messages for now. ]

In the days since she had that talk with Himiko, she's been doing... good, more or less. She feels like she has a way forward, now that the initial shock of heartbreak has dulled into an ache. She feels more at peace with certain parts of her life than ever since reconciling with Sayo, despite the... collateral damage to her relationship with Ange.

...Okay it's not all going well. But she's getting by. Either way, she's happy to get a message from her friend, no matter how complicated the situation is. ]

[ it's barely six minutes later that himiko toga crashes into jessica's field of view. she... really did run the whole way, didn't she? and she doesn't look like she's really all that tired, either.

she waves, those little fangs showing clearly as she yells out- ]

Jessie-chan, Jessie-chan! I finally found you!!

[ -and runs to slam into her with a wide-armed hug.

wow. she's, ah. she's even more 'no personal space' than usual, isn't she. ]

[ The thought that Himiko might do that should surprise Jessica, but it really doesn't. It's Himiko, who makes her own exuberance look like... well, George. She really likes that about her, though, the unrelenting spirit with which she lives her life. She might be biased by her own outlook, but it's a good way to live!

She waves cheerfully as Himiko comes into view, giving a big grin that suddenly turns into a squawk of surprise as Himiko barrels right into her, catching her completely off balance and knocking some breath out of her. ]

Gwah, jeez Himiko!!! [ She laughs, though, her own little fangs showing in her fond grin. ] What's got you so excited?

Eheheh... Why do you think I'm excited, Jessie-chan?

[ oh. oh, her face is starting to turn bright red, isn't it. himiko leans in, whispering sotto voce into jessica's ear: ]

I talked to Sayocchi about a few things~ Can you guess what they are?

[ Somehow, this feels like way more than just Himiko's normal casual flirting. That warm breath in her ear is raises goosebumps on her skin, a thrill of excitement spreading in her belly.

This is... shouldn't hope, but she had read things about... unconventional relationships... ]

I-I don't know...

I asked her what she'd do if I told you how much I liked you, Jessie-chan.

[ "way more" is one way to put it. normally, she just flirts and touches and laughs as a means of existence. this is flirting with intent. she doesn't want there to be a single chance of misunderstanding exactly what she means by what she's saying - by what she just said. one hand reaches up, casually brushing a bit of jessica's hair behind her ear in an unthinkably intimate gesture. ]

Hey, hey, Jessie-chan. Did you know? Sayocchi's really understanding. So sweet and kind. [ she comes even closer; her lips almost graze jessica's ear. ] She said that it was totally fine. That if I wanted to tell you how cute you are, I shouldn't feel bad about it at all.

[ she giggles, breathy and high. ]

So I'm not gonna feel bad about it. I'm gonna do what I want without any regrets. And right now... What do you think I wanna do? Je-ssie-chan?

[ Jessica thinks her heart will beat out of her chest. The girl she saw herself in, whose unreserved admiration and acceptance left her lovestruck within minutes, in whom she saw the possibility of really and truly liking herself, who wanted to understand her more than anything else— she really feels this way? It shouldn't be surprising based on how she acted but she's so afraid of having her hopes dashed again. ]

Do you... really feel that way about me, Himiko-chan? Really?

[ She shivers at Himiko's soft touch. That adorable, carefree giggle in her ear makes her feel like she'll melt. ]

I... you have to tell me. Put it clearly in words, because I'm a dumbass, Himiko-chan.

Jessie-chan... I'm not the kind of girl that does things she doesn't want to do, you know? [ the hand at jessica's hair lowers down, running a fingertip along the shell of jessica's ear. ] That's way too much effort. I'm not gonna lie or force myself to be different. I hate even thinking about that.

[ the fingertip drops down, now, tracing a line along the muscle in jessica's neck. ]

So, if I say I like something, or that I wanna do something... It means I really, really wanna do it. Like... [ down, down, down. her finger lands on jessica's collarbone; she traces it out, snagging the side of jessica's collar along the way. ] If I tell you you're totally my type, that doesn't mean I think you're pretty cute. It means you're reeeally my type. It means you're the kind of girl I think about all bloodied up when I daydream. Like most of the other girls I've had a little crush on.

[ she tugs the finger out - not far, just enough to expose a little more of jessica's neck. a little more of that soft skin. she still doesn't lean in yet, though, continuing- ]

And when I say that I wanna give you a little love bite right now? That means I wanna taste you again, Jessie-chan. I wanna bite down and drink you up, so I can get a little bit closer to you. See? I'm not that tough to figure out~

[ she finally does lean in, exhaling hot and warm onto jessica's neck - but still she stays at a safe distance. only close enough to imply, not close enough to bite. not without permission.

and so she asks: ]

Well? Do I have your permission, Jessie-sama?

[ Maybe it's because she's the same way, or perhaps in spite of it; either way it's that unshakeable conviction with which Himiko lives her life and embraces her values and desires that Jessica so admires about her (that and she's extremely hot, but personality factors into that too). But that's not it either. She wasn't nearly that strong, no matter what her friends and classmates and Sayo saw in her, and still isn't. She's jealous, but she admires her, and that translates to yearning.

Not that she's aware of any of these subconscious motives right now. It's buried under the sheer intoxicating force of Himiko's presence bearing down on her. She shivers as Himikos fingers trace down her neck to collar, tracing muscle and bone. That affection is so direct and physical and unhesitating. It makes her shiver. ]

O-Oh. Himiko-chan, that... I'm really happy. Really, really happ-— [ Jessica gasps as Himiko exposes more skin, whispers her desire to taste her. ] Aah!

[ She really is happy. Overjoyed to have her affections returned, to find somebody who utterly accepts her, likes every part of her and wants her just as she is. Maybe Sayo had accepted her too, but as bright as her love for her still burns, there was a geography of pain in their relationship, old wounds they were working to mend that still enmeshed them. There was the way her friend had put her up on a pedestal while keeping her own feelings worlds away from her. But Himiko has no history like that. She just purely liked (loved?) Jessica with an intensity she'd never felt before. For all her admiration, she doesn't treat her as anything but an equal, and she's so direct with everything. Jessica knows in that moment that she's truly, helplessly in love. It makes her feel so happy so she could explode.

And when Himiko leans in, asks to drink from her again, taste her again, when that hot breath hits the sensitive skin of her neck, she has to bite her lip to suppress a moan. Much to her embarrassment, she finds herself growing well and truly excited, and in public no less. ]

Yes, Himiko-chan, yes, please! I... m-maybe somewhere with a little less people, though?
